In Memory of Dr. Samantha Roberts

In Memory of Dr. Samantha Roberts

Dear EASM Members,

we are sad to hear of the passing of Dr. Samantha Roberts and wanted to share the heartfelt meessage from NASSM president Bri Newland with you:

“As many of you are likely now well aware, we lost a member of the sport management community unexpectedly last weekend, Dr. Samantha Roberts. Sam touched many of us in the sport management community, and she will be deeply missed. Many have reached out to share special messages of how Sam touched their lives through social media, phone calls, and email. Her colleague, Dr. Clay Bolton, described Sam as an international scholar that enriched the department and classroom and brought so much joy to him, the students, and everyone around her. It is clear that she has left a lasting impact on many, including those from our SMAANZ and EASM communities, who both sent the following messages:

From Dr. Adam Karg, President of SMAANZ: “Members of the SMAANZ Board and community wish to pass on their thoughts and condolences to the family, friends and colleagues of Dr Roberts who clearly had a positive and meaningful impact on many in the sport management community globally.”

And from Dr. Vassil Girginov, President of EASM: On behalf of the European Association for Sport Management, I would like to express our profound sadness about the untimely passing of Dr Samantha Roberts. She was a valued member of the global sport management community and will be greatly missed by her family, friends, students and colleagues.”

The funeral services will be Monday, September 27, 2021 at 1pm central time at First Baptist Church in Commerce, TX.
