Alberto Madella (1956 – 2008) was appointed an EASM Honorary Member in recognition of the commitment, enthusiasm and energy he demonstrated in the field of sport management. He worked for many years with EASM in various roles and served as General Secretary from 1996 to 2004. His passion for the subject and his dedication to teaching and research inspired many scholars, students and academics throughout the world. In recognition of the work undertaken by Alberto, EASM initiated the Alberto Madella Scholarship Fund.
The fund allows people to apply for 500 euros to help them attend the annual EASM Conference and/or Student Seminar.

EASM is proud to announce that the Alberto Madella Scholarship 2014 has been awarded to Elisabeth Emana, administrator at the Association of National Olympic Committees of Africa (ANOCA). She has presented her findings on initiating and impelenting organizational change in ANOCA and hopes to continue her academic career towards a DBA or PhD in the near future.
In 2013 the fund has been awarded to two candidates:
Lilla Szijj – Hungarian: Economist in International Business
Currently working as a trainee at the International Weightlifting Federation with the patronage of Dr. Tamas Ajan, she is a Master Student at the International Olympic Academy and Member of Counsel of the Hungarian Olympic Academy. She is finishing her thesis on the topic of “Evelution of Hungarian Sport Managemetn System and its effects on Olympic Successes”.
Ahmed Alafandi – Egypt
Ahmed is Assistant Professor at the Sport Management Department of Benha University, Egypt, and also persuing a Master’s degree in sport management at the University of Ottawa. He is currently performing a spring/summer internship with Commonwealth Games Canada CGC to gain hands-on professional experience in the field of sport marketing, communication and sponsorship.
In 2012, two candidates received The Alberto Madella Fund.
Sanjay Tewari, a Law and a Science Graduate,a PG in Sociology and a MBA. Sanjay works for a life insurance company here in India, and is member of the sports promotion board. Being a sociologist and a management graduate, he has been speaking and presenting papers at many national and international conferences, Play The Game 2011. He had been the sole presenter from India in the Play The Game 2011 conference.
Javad Yousefian, graduated in Physical Education and Sport Science (BA & MA), doing his PhD in Sport Marketing at the University of Hull, living in the UK.
