Call for Proposals: 2013 Preparatory Action: European Partnership on Sports

EASM is aspiring to participate in European projects to bring the profession of Sport Management to the next level. It therefore welcomes initiatives such as the following by the European Commision:

2013 Preparatory Action: European Partnership on Sports

This call for proposals serves to implement the Preparatory Action "European Partnership on Sports" in accordance with the “Commission Decision on the adoption of the 2013 annual work programme on grants and procurement for the Preparatory Action European Partnership on Sports and for the Special Annual Events.” The main objective of the second year of this Preparatory Action is to prepare future EU actions in this field, on the basis of the Sport Chapter of the proposed Union Programme for Education, Training, Youth and Sport for 2014-2020 ‘Erasmus for All’, building on the priorities set in the 2007 White Paper on Sport and the 2011 Communication on Developing the European Dimension in Sport.

Conference website for SMAANZ 2013 has been launched

The School of Physical Education, Sport and Exercise Sciences and the Department of Tourism are delighted to announce the launch of the Sport Management Association of Australia and New Zealand (SMAANZ) Conference website for 2013.

The website has all the information regarding abstract submission, accommodation, dates, registration, social events, and travel.

International doctoral seminar prior to 2013 EASM conference

Prior to the 2013 EASM conference, young sport management researchers will have the opportunity to join a seminar solely for doctoral students. Purposes are to strengthen international networking, improve research designs and engage in fruitful discussions with fellow PhD. students. Internationally well-regarded senior scholars of our field such as Packianathan Chelladurai (USA), Holger Preuss (Germany), Veerle De Bosscher (Belgium) and Berit Skirstad (Norway) will join as key lectures.
Via the conference webpage interested scholars can apply for participation, deadline is no later than 15th of June. Please download and submit the application form. Doctoral students who are found eligible for participation are supposed to submit and present a working paper of maximum 3.000 words during the seminar.

2014 edition of the IOC OSC PhD Students Research Grant programme

The IOC Olympic Studies Centre is pleased to inform you that the rules and the application form for the 2014 edition of the IOC OSC PhD Students Research Grant programme have been posted on the IOC website, Academic activities and network section (French version). As you will see, we have introduced changes in the programme. These changes are in line with the new IOC OSC research plan, and will be followed by other activities aimed at the academic community.

The deadline for submitting applications is 27 September.

 

SPLISS Conference on Elite Sport Success: boost for society or not?‏

On behalf of the SPLISS network the local organizing committee invites you to submit abstracts to be considered for presentation at the SPLISS Conference on 'Elite Sport Success: society boost or not?', to be hosted by the city of Antwerp (Belgium) on 13/14 November 2013.

The conference consists of two major themes, regarding elite sports policies and strategies towards success (including the latest results of the SPLISS study in 15 countries) and the role of elite sport for society. This includes a specific focus towards cities and how they can generate an added value through elite sport. Thus it brings together academics/researchers, sport policy makers, sport consultants, major sport event organizers, city and destination marketers, representatives from National Olympic Committees, IOC, National and International Sport Governing Bodies as well as elite sport coaches.
